Web Analytics - Always Google Analytics?
Web analytics helps to measure the metrics of a website and understand how visitors interact with the website. Google Analytics is probably the best-known web analytics tool on the market. However, it is problematic for data protection reasons and is often too complex and oversized for smaller websites. For this reason, I use "Plausible Analytics" (https://plausible.io/) on my website - installed directly on my own server. I am excited about the possibilities and appreciate the following points, among others:
Conclusion: I can fully recommend Plausible Analytics for smaller projects, but for larger requirements and in the professional marketing environment, Google Analytics or Matomo are still more suitable.
Update December 2023: From now on, the privacy-friendly analytics solution Usermaven (https://usermaven.com/) is used.
